UseofForce.us: Introduction

UseofForce.us: Introduction: "A killing is a killing; an eye-poking is an eye-poking; a stabbing is a stabbing, and so forth. If the evidence supports that you did such a thing, and you’re prosecuted for it, and you don’t deny it, then it’s a crime. You can, however, make the case that you were legally justified in your actions, and if you can prove that, then you’re clear. But while establishing that you did the eye-poking is the prosecution’s problem, establishing justification is yours—your burden of proof."

Woman at Center of Brutal W. Va. Torture Case Now Says She Lied - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com: "The office of Columbus, Ohio, attorney Byron L. Potts says Megan Williams will attend a news conference there Wednesday saying she lied about being assaulted by a gang of whites.

Seven people pleaded guilty in the 2007 case. All but one were sentenced to long jail terms.

The former Logan County prosecutor who oversaw those cases calls Williams' new claim absurd. Brian Abraham tells The Associated Press the seven were convicted on physical evidence and their own statements."

One of the eyewitnesses is wrong -- so you can't always trust an eyewitness 100%.

Top White House Official Says Obama Team 'Controlled' Media Coverage During Campaign - Political News - FOXNews.com

Top White House Official Says Obama Team 'Controlled' Media Coverage During Campaign - Political News - FOXNews.com: "She explained that the campaign favored live interviews so that Obama's words could not be edited -- 'so that what the voters heard we determined, as opposed to some editor in a TV station.'

She said Campaign Manager David Plouffe put out Web videos so the campaign could avoid talking to reporters and focus the media message.

'Whether it was a David Plouffe video or an Obama speech, a huge part of our press strategy was focused on making the media cover what Obama was actually saying as opposed to why the campaign was saying it,' she said."

Those sounds like effective techniques (that I have no problem with).

White House Urges Other Networks to Disregard Fox News - Political News - FOXNews.com

White House Urges Other Networks to Disregard Fox News - Political News - FOXNews.com: "Senior Obama administration officials took to the airwaves Sunday to accuse Fox News of pushing a particular point of view and not being a real news network."

All news sources push a particular point of view even when they try not to.

"The White House is calling on other news organizations to isolate and alienate Fox News as it sends out top advisers to rail against the cable channel as a Republican Party mouthpiece." In other words: If they don't play my way than no one should play with them. And this apparently all started just because of fact-checking? What happened to "transparency"?

Bernanke Says U.S. Should Cut Record-High Budget Deficits - Political News - FOXNews.com: "WASHINGTON -- Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Monday called for the United States to whittle down its record-high budget deficits"

Maybe it would help if the federal reserve stopped enabling the deficits by monetizing the debt!

Opposing view: GOP offers clear alternative - Opinion - USATODAY.com

Opposing view: GOP offers clear alternative - Opinion - USATODAY.com: "Democrats did not win the majority in Congress or the White House by compromising. They did not oust the Republicans by helping them pass an agenda they did not agree with. They did not come into power by following advice to be more bipartisan. They did what the Republicans must now do to have any chance of gaining a sustainable majority and advancing their ideas. They fought for what they believed in.

Republicans win when they campaign and govern as conservatives. That is what people expect out of them. When Republicans compromised their traditional beliefs and failed to deliver on reform and fiscal responsibility, they lost the trust of the voters."

Blog Action Day 2009: Climate Change

Blog Action Day 2009: Climate Change:

Every year in a large city nearby, the average high temperature change between winter and summer is 60 degrees F. If the sun and earth rotation can make that much of a temperature change then obviously the sun has a major impact on the earth's temperature variation. A 1 degree F difference in surface temperature seems insignificant compared to that.

D.C. has by far the highest (3.6) pounds of CO2 produced per KWH so if they don't have the political will to fix that why should we think they have the political will to actually pass a climate bill that is helpful? (Source)

"[T]he schedule of cutbacks contained in Waxman-Markey is very aggressive in the range of models studied by the IPCC — could cost up to 5.5 percent of global GDP by the year 2050, relative to the baseline trajectory of GDP if no carbon caps are imposed." "According to this estimate by climate scientist Chip Knappenberger, Waxman-Markey would lead to a planet that warmed 9/100ths of a degree Fahrenheit less than would otherwise be the case, by the year 2050." And now, Ohio joins them."
